Working from the Montessori curriculum, young children experience math, language, arts, science and cultural studies through developmentally appropriate activities. Daily presentations by the teachers show the children predetermined concepts. The children are given the gift of respect from adults and the freedom to learn and play within clear limits.

Playgroup supports parents in "growing the tree they have", and provides children a strong foundation for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Admissions Directors are assured that Playgroup children are among the most prepared and well-rounded children.

The Playgroup curriculum and pedagogy are inspired by Dr. Montessori’s motto of “follow the child”. Dr. Montessori's work - woven in with Jean Piaget’s stages of Cognitive Development and Erik Erikson's 8 Stages of Pyschosocial Development - provide the foundation for all we do. 

Utilizing the Montessori curriculum, Playgroup offers an unparalleled educational experience for children. Our goal is to have gracious, independent, and confident young children who recognize they are a small part of a much bigger world. A daily blend of academics, play, gross motor, creative art and music prepares the Playgroup child for the larger elementary schools.

Contributions to The Annual Fund allow the Playgroup faculty and staff to immediately provide new and enhanced opportunities for students. The generosity of our community sustains Playgroup's high standards of educational excellence in all forms.

Playgroup offers an optional year-round program. Summer Session is available to current, graduating and incoming (2+y/o) students. Weekly session are held from mid-June to mid-August. Families have the option of a half-day or full-day program. Each session is carefully curated and themed, and has limited capacity available on a first come, first served basis.
